What should publishers do with AJAX?
Jason Calacanis posted the part II of AJAX good or bad
Think about it, for the past five years there has been no difference between Hotmail and Yahoo Mail. Web-based mail sucked and power users used it as a last resort—a backup at best. Then, overnight, the power users loved webmail. Why? Because it became faster.
Since their comments validation are so long, so I'm answering here for his question.
The best features I've seen for publishers are mainly :
- Live comments preview it could be without ajax, but Ajax is used to use the same server side validation stuff to display comments.
- Live search I use a live search in phptunisie website since last year.
- Live Archive original feature to browse archives
- A Shoutbox to keep in touch live with visitors.
