Orbeon Presentation Server (OPS) version 3.0 have been released recently on january 18, 2006 with many changes, fixes and new features. Orbeon PresentationServer is an open source development platform for building form-based applications. OPS 3.0 makes it easy to build web forms by bringing standard W3C XForms to mainstream browsers thanks to user-friendly Ajax technology.

OPS is available for download under the LGPL licnese, note that some examples are distributed under Apache 2.0 License. The downloaded package include documentation, examples sources and the OPS software. Examples and documentation for OPS are also available online. To get started with OPS you need an application server that runs on Java version 1.4.2 (or later) and implements the Servlet API 2.3 (or later). OPS has been tested on the following application servers:

* Apache Tomcat 4.1.31 (JDK 1.4.2)
* Apache Tomcat 5.5.4 (JDK 1.5.0)
* BEA WebLogic Server 9.1 (JRockit)
* IBM WebSphere 6
* JOnAS 4.6.6 (Tomcat 5.5.12, JDK 1.5.0)
* JBoss 4.0

Install is detailed in the documentation for the different application servers. In the version 3.0 of OPS, XForms are now AJAX based :

The XForms engine is now based on Ajax technologies. This makes the XForms engine much more responsive to user interaction than with OPS 2.8.
