TheBroth.com, The Global Mosaic : Live Art With 1000 Tiles Of Multiplayer Fun
I love Mosaic so much, but I didn't expect seeing it as an online multiplayer game ! TheBroth.com is a massively multiplayer, live internet application that connects people around the globe beyond language and age boundaries. Participate and influence an unpredictable and ever-changing global playground. From live art to a novel social experiment - TheBroth is what you make it!
The game is so much fun, after entering the mosaic you can already start moving the tiles with other players online and create original artworks. You can register to take snapshot of the mosaic created, there is already many examples in the gallery. If you liked a design you can also buy it on tshirts from cafepress, and maybe in the future you can buy the mosaic itself as a package to assemble at home.
"TheBroth belongs to a new breed of novel web 2.0 internet applications. It is massively multiplayer and real time, which in itself is cool and a lot of fun. Artists may view and use TheBroth as a global collaborative art project, lunchtimers may play with it just for fun, and tech enthusiasts may get a kick out of the fun application of modern internet technologies such as Ajax that bring TheBroth experience to everyone with an internet connection," says Markus Weichselbaum, TheBroth.com's creator.
TheBroth.com have also an interesting developer blog where they share stuff they learned during the development of theBroth revealing Ajax, Php, Mysql and JavaScript tips, tricks and techniques! There is already many interesting posts about the Making of theBroth and Basic tutorials for AJAX, Bayesian Rating, Drag and drop ... etc.
An original solution which make its entry in web 2.0 family, with a 4000 years old (maybe more) art !! Fans of mosaics will find certainly in TheBroth a very new concept for creating artworks, and if you are one of these fans you may check the Bardo Museum in Tunisia, a place where you can see the most finest collection of mosaics in the world. I visit it when I was ~5 years old I think :-)
