Wow. I would love this book.
A while back I came across a site where the developer tried geocoding his website visitors. The demo never worked for me, so I started on my own.

It's still a bit of a work in progress, and as the page says, it's not exactly real-time (every 10 minutes or so), but it's a start...

I'm currently writting an add-on to our Homeowners Association website that will map out all the locations which plan to sell items during our neighborhood yardsale. Folks will be able to go to a page and see all the various locations throughout our development who are selling items, what items are planned to be sold, etc. I'm also trying to extend the functionality so that folks can also print the map with their locations of interest only. Everything is done using Google Maps, PHP and MySQL.

We're realizing a charity / travel project, where participants travel a certain route around the world. On the end of the route of one participant, another starts. The route will be registered by an online application which the travleres have to feed with blog information, pictures and the route information of course.

The application will display the route with google maps. The traveler is able to set markers on special places and assigning pictures to it. So he writes about experiences and the audience could retrace them by reading and discovering with the attached map.

Maybe this site would be worth an article on ajaxmagazine.net, when it's done ...

Bye, Jörg

Hi,
this is a great offer! I'd love to own this book!
I started designing a site where one can post great outdoor experiences (great hikes, great diving spots,...) Google earth or maps would be a neat tool to visualize where those locations are and be the interface to provide information (pictures, description of trails,...).
Cheers,
Claus
