Open-jACOB, Building databased Web Applications the Easy Way

jacob_logo_new.png
Open-jACOB is a Java rapid application development tool (RAD) base on Eclipse that enables the development of Rich Internet Applications (RIA) that are based entirely on Java. The primary goal of the jACOB Framework is to handle Ajax database driven web applications with CRUD (create, retrieve, update, delete) with little or no Java programming. Instead of telling the application how to retrieve and how to display the data. The developer creates the Web-UI with a point&click *Eclipse UI-Designer*. jACOB's major benefit is that the layout of the user interface is separate from the Java classes of the application.Open jACOB is released open source under LGPL by Tarragon-Software.

Hello,

Will I be able to create any Web application using Open-jACOB, or is it specialized in some way. For example, I read that back-office type applications are the main focus for Open-jACOB applications. What are the implications of that?

I am looking for a general purpose visual editor for creating Web applications.

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Justin
