Ext 1.1 beta1 Goes Stand-alone, What About 2.0 ?

Ext 1.1 Beta 1 is now available with many great new features as usual. Big news in this release is that Ext got its own core library, and so could run without jQuery, Prototype or YUI. The ext-base file weighs in at 34kb minimized, which is smaller than other libraries with Ext adapter. A new WYSIWYG Editor have been introduced in this release, bringing more new great tools to the library in addition to many others improvements.

Certainly many can't wait for the Ext 2.0, but have to. The Ext 2.0 is a step in the Web OS with lots of exciting features that some of them have been revealed in the forum such the windows. Some of the planned features are available here. When asked about the Ext JS 2.0 roadmap, Jack Slocum, Ext Core Developer, told us "Development is primarily driven by needs of customers as well as our own needs for software that we are developing. That changes frequently and locking ourselves into a fixed development path is not something we are eager to do, hence the lack of a formal published roadmap."
