Ext JS 2.1 And Ext GWT 1.0 Released

Ext JS 2.1 have just released with a beta Ext GWT 1.0, in addition to an early preview of Ext JS 3.0. Most important change in my opinion is the licence that changed from LGPL to GPL v3, of course in a Dual Licensing Model. Now that the library is becoming more and more mature, it was time to move to a more efficient commercial model. So from today, you can use ExtJS in your open source project compatible with GPLv3, otherwise you have to buy a commercial license. Pricing start from $289 for single developer to $14,449 for enterprise having up to 100 developers.

New features in Ext JS 2.1 include :

- Slider : added support for vertical and horizontal orientation, incremental snapping, tooltips, custom styling and a lot more
- StatusBar : can now be rendered into any panel or window and include more interactivity of what's happening in the application
- Full REST Support
- New Grid Filtering sample
- New Layout Browser sample
- New Custom Drag & Drop
