Wine Marketing Innovators Giving Away Their "Filet Mignon" Software
Glen Ellen, CA December 17 – What are they thinking? Glen Ellen, CA based, Winergy Inc, has just freely released their complete web application software. It's the foundation of their innovative WinePad application for wine tasting rooms. Why would this start-up, just three and a half months old, give it all away? Winergy CEO, Thomas Hansen explains, "Winergy is doing this because we see a need for more collaboration between tech vendors and wineries. We've created a platform that can provide a common "language" that everyone can build upon to create more collaboration and solve integration problems."

Hansen elaborates, "To clarify, we're talking about many years of work which we are giving away as Free Software today. Magix is more than 25,000 lines of code, divided into more than 150 files. Ruby On Rails [RoR] had less than 10,000 lines of code when Twitter started using it as their framework. The amount of lines of code doesn't prove the quality of a framework, but it speaks about the sheer size of the Intellectual Property we are releasing to the public today. The estimated worth of this Intellectual Property is probably between $.5Mil- $1Mil, a lot of value for a startup to give away for free...This is our Christmas present to the wine industry and we hope it will facilitate further collaboration and increase the value that we can all give our customers - the wineries and the consumers!"
